But she said that for two or three months, town board members received hundreds of e-mails and telephone calls from people who lobbied them to take a stand against the Patriot Act's perceived encroachments on civil liberties.
''They wanted us to do something about this and to send a message to Congress,'' Ms.

Precautions were taken to prevent domestic terrorism, and one of the most effective precautions came in the form of the USA Patriot Act, which many people in the United States know nothing about.

Since its creation only a month ago (August 1st 2003), The Loyal Nine has moved beyond the confines of Huntington, NY. Fall2Freedom is not only a united fight against the Patriot Act, but a celebration for all the Cities who are kicking off their own chapters.

Loyal Nine Activist's House Raided

Everything pertaining to anything electronic was taken including his computer, web cam, printer, video camera, digital camera, photographs, tapes, CD's/DVD's, all electronic cables and more. Along with that is the loss of all the information stored in those mediums. Stored on the computer were not only all the photographs from past protests and the posters to advertise for upcoming protests, but also the layout and near final version of the Loyal Nine's official website.

Friday, August 15th marked the kickoff of The Loyal Nine in Huntington, NY. The massive blackout which obstructed many people from coming through the L.I.R.R. did not hinder activities. Numbers were in the hundreds; filling the town with the voices of freedom

One of the results was the USA Patriot Act, passed in a frenzy 45 days after Sept. 11. The act was designed to help law enforcement officials get information faster and with fewer restrictions. However, many are saying that the federal government has gone too far and is infringing on our civil liberties.
